On Wednesday afternoon, the South Glens Falls High School, Oliver W. Winch Middle School and the Moreau, Tanglewood, and Harrison elementary schools were all placed on lockout for a short period of time by the state police.

There was some police activity near the area. State police contacted the district at approximately 12:50 p.m. — within 15 minutes of the lockout being declared — to let us know that all schools could be released from lockout. Activities in our buildings have returned to normal.

As a reminder,  a lockout is used to secure buildings and grounds during an incident that poses an imminent concern outside of the school. This involves locking exterior doors and windows, and canceling outdoor activities while normal classroom instruction continues. During the time of a lockout, no persons can enter the school building.

We thank our students and staff for their cooperation during this time.
