On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, South Glens Falls Central School District residents voted to approve the district’s 2024-25 proposed budget with 444 voting in favor and 220 voting against it.
The $72,676,027 spending plan carries a 4.01% budget increase over the current year’s budget.
The proposed 2.85% tax levy increase is below the limit set by New York’s tax levy cap law.
“The community support in this year’s budget vote is truly appreciated,” stated the Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “We are deeply grateful for the trust our residents have placed in us. Strong community backing is vital for our district’s success, and we thank every individual who took the time to cast their ballot today.”
Voters additionally approved a $1 million repair reserve fund that consists of surplus funds from the 2023-24 budget by a vote of 480 yes to 182 no. Any necessary repairs for building facilities would be funded from this reserve.
Finally, three candidates were elected to the board of education. The candidates elected to the board are: Roger Fedele, John Farrell, Kevin Ostrander. The vote totals were as follows:
