To our SGF community,

We wanted to share with our entire community what we informed our South High families of on Thursday, May 9.

During an afternoon bus run that afternoon, an altercation took place between a few students. The bus driver immediately responded, pulling over at the middle school to intervene, but unfortunately, two students sustained injuries as a result. Our building administrators were notified, and they responded quickly to the scene. As a precautionary measure, all students not involved in the altercation were transferred to a different bus at the middle school to ensure their safe and timely transportation home.

We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive community for all. Violence of any form is unacceptable and is always dealt with according to the guidelines laid out in the district code of conduct. We will continue to prioritize the security and well-being of our students, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we work to maintain a safe environment for all.

The code of conduct applies to not only what occurs on district property, but on district transportation and during off campus district events as well. Students are also expected to follow the policies and procedures detailed in their building’s handbooks, which are located on all building websites. Handbooks are sent home with each student at the start of the year. Dignity for All Students Act reporting forms can also be found on the front page of each of our six building web pages. Any concerns can also be anonymously reported at any time via our online Let’s Talk system.

Any students who need additional support at any time are encouraged to contact their school’s counseling office.

As always, thank you for your cooperation and trust in our commitment to your children’s safety and education.

Sincerely,

Richard Murphy
Interim Principal
South Glens Falls High School
