2024-25 Budget Vote

South Glens Falls Central School District residents will vote Tuesday, May 21, on a proposed $72,676,027 spending plan for the 2024-25 school year. The proposed plan calls for a 4.01% increase in spending over the current year’s budget.

If approved, the budget would increase the tax levy by 2.85%, which is below the district’s state-imposed tax levy limit of 4.62%. While final assessment figures are not available until August, it is projected that homeowners with an assessment of $100,000 would see their annual taxes increase by approximately $37.

“We’re committed to maintaining our educational programs and staffing while ensuring fiscal responsibility to our community,” said Superintendent of Schools Kristine Orr. “This budget achieves that balance by keeping the tax levy increase within the tax cap limit.”

Voters will also elect three members to the board of education and vote on a $1 million repair reserve fund. The repair reserve fund consists of surplus funds from the 2023-24 budget. Any necessary repairs would be funded from this reserve. However, transferring these funds necessitates approval from voters.
