Dear South High Families,

We are writing to inform you of a situation that we were made aware of over the weekend at the high school.

During evening cleaning on Friday, a note was found in a high school bathroom that indicated a possible threat of violence towards the school. The staff member who located the note immediately contacted the high school’s administration, who in turn involved our school resource officer, Deputy Carey.

Deputy Carey contacted the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and an investigation commenced. The threat was determined to be non-credible.

As is our procedure, and despite the threat being unfounded, we will have increased police presence at the high school on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023.

We urge all of our families to have conversations with their children about these types of posts and statements. They are not funny, appropriate or taken lightly. The South Glens Falls Central School District and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office take any perceived threat seriously.

We encourage all students to report any concerning statements they hear or see to a trusted adult at the high school. If you see or hear something, say something. Concerns can also be reported via our Let’s Talk system through our district website.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the high school administration.

Sincerely,

Kristine Orr, Superintendent of Schools

Richard Murphy, South Glens Falls High School Interim Principal
