2026-27 Board of Education Candidates

Voters will elect candidates to fill three open seats on the Board of Education.

To learn more about the five candidates for the positions, please see the biographies below. Candidates will appear on the ballot in the same order as they appear on the page below. Candidate ballot positions were determined by a blind drawing that was held on April 23, 2026.

Haley Brashears

Haley Brashears is running for her second term on the South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education. 

Brashears works as a National Commercial Underwriting Manager in the Healthcare Practice Solutions Group at TD Bank. She leads a team of commercial credit underwriters, ensuring adherence to credit policy, risk appetite, and federal regulations. She focuses on the new money team, overseeing the financing of new loans to healthcare practices. 

She graduated high school from West Valley High School in Cottonwood, CA. She has a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Brashears and her partner Brett Bolesh have two children who attend South Glens Falls CSD schools. She volunteers at community events, including those at Ballard Elementary School, and regularly attends and supports the annual South High Marathon Dance.

William Elder

William Elder is running for his fifth three-year term on the South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education. Elder first joined the board in 1980, and served two full  five-year terms and three years on his third term before leaving to take a job out of town. He rejoined after returning to South Glens Falls.  

Elder has retired from Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown and additionally he worked at Albany Medical Center. 

He is a graduate of South Glens Falls Central School District and SUNY Cobleskill, where he received a degree in Business Management

Elder has three children who have graduated from South Glens Falls CSD. 

Elder is the president of the Southside Cemetery Board of Trustees and a member of the Queensbury Masonic Lodge, and member/lay Eucharist minister of the Church of Messiah. 

Nicholas Healy

Nicholas Healy is running for his second term on the South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education, having been elected in 2023.

Healy has been employed for 22 years as a School Counselor at Granville Central School District. His professional experience includes 15 years at the high school level, where he supported students with college admissions, career planning, course selection, and scheduling. For the past seven years, he has worked at the elementary level, focusing on social-emotional learning, career exploration, and individual and group counseling.

He also serves as an Elementary 504 Case Manager and collaborates with school administrators to improve student attendance.

Healy graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1997. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Adirondack in 1999, a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2001, and a Master’s in Education along with a Certificate of Advanced Study in 2003.

Healy and his spouse, Melanie Healy, have two children: Briana Healy, a student at SUNY Plattsburgh, and Nicholas Healy II, a senior at South Glens Falls High School

In addition to his professional work, Healy has been active in the community as a volunteer coach for the Moreau Recreational Program, coaching basketball (2014, 2015, 2019) and soccer (2014, 2019).
