2025-26 Board of Education Candidates

Voters will elect candidates to fill three open seats on the Board of Education. Each is a three-year term.

Candidates will appear on the ballot in the same order as they appear on the page below. Candidate ballot positions were determined by a blind drawing that was held on April 22, 2025.

Dr. John Leary

Dr. John Leary is running for his second term on the school board.

He is a retired physician, although his medical license is current. 

Dr. Leary holds his M.D. from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and is board certified in pediatrics, emergency medicine and anesthesiology. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and was a commander at the 364th General Hospital and reached the final rank of Colonel. He received his high school diploma from St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls and attended Holy Cross college in Worcester, MA. 

He is the former school physician for the South Glens Falls Central School District. He previously worked as a high school teacher at Mt. DeSales High School, where he was also the head football and track coach. He was additionally a school physician at Hudson Falls Central School and a staff physician at Wilton Development Center and an assistant clinical professor at Albany Medical College. 

Leary has been involved with the VFW, American Legion, St. Clements Catholic Church and the Glens Falls Hospital Medical Staff.

Heidi Brennan

Heidi Brennan is seeking reelection to a second term on the South Glens Falls Central School District Board of Education. 

Heidi has lived in the SGF district for the past 31 years and is the mother of two SGF graduates, who both spent their entire school career in SGF, with one graduating in 2019 and the other in 2024.

She is employed by the Saratoga Springs City School District as a keyboard specialist in the guidance department. 

She is a 1988 Graduate of Hadley-Luzerne Central School District. She received her associates degree for IT-End user support in 2016. 

Brennan has chaperoned dances at Oliver W. Winch Middle School and volunteered at the registration table at the South High Marathon Dance, which she also donated food and time to. She has also volunteered several years in a row at the Moreau Community Center for Global Impact Day

Amanda Cedrone

Amanda Cedrone is running for her first term on the school board.

She is a  financial advisor at Edward Jones, where she works with families and individuals to set and achieve financial goals.  

Cedrone holds a dual bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from Northeastern University and has a masters in journalism from Columbia University. She is a Queensbury High School alumni. 

Cedrone and her partner Derek Paddock have two children, one of whom is currently attending UPK here in South Glens Falls.

Brianna Lebrecht

Brianna Lebrecht is running for her first term on the school board.

She is currently employed as a legal assistant at the Law Office of Rose Place, where she assists attorneys with maintaining files, drafting correspondence, supply orders, managing a busy calendar, scheduling and some legal document drafting, including for adoptions. 

Lebrecht has been involved with the Tanglewood float for the holiday parade, took part in the school community and family alliance group. She volunteered for teen towns, participated in interviews for committees for high school assistant principal and principal vacancies, and discussion group discussions regarding the district’s updated mission statement. 

Lebrecht also volunteers as the secretary for the Moreau Community Center’s Board of Directors. She frequently volunteers with the center’s Bulldog Zone after school program. She is involved with the Upper Hudson Queer Alliance out of Luzerne. She was also previously involved with the Lower Adirondack Pride and was a founder and leader of Holistic Moms Network: Glens Falls Chapter. 

Lebrecht is a 2006 graduate of Schuylerville High School. She is married to Richard Lebrecht and has two children, both of whom attend South Glens Falls schools.
